Quick Poll and Contest

I'm still undecided as to which socks to cast on for my trip tomorrow. So I thought we could turn this into a poll and a contest!

There are three pattern/yarn combinations in the running. All you have to do is vote/guess which one will make the cut. When I'm back, I'll pick a random person from those who got it right and send out a wicked awesome prize. (I'm practicing for Boston!) Comment by Sunday night at midnight Pacific time to enter.

Here are the choices... In no particular order...

1. Marigold Socks by the genius of Flint Knits in STR Sunstone. These socks have been in the queue for a long time.

STR Lightweight- Sunstone

2. Tesserae Socks from KnitSpot in Yarn Pirate BFL in Fog. This pattern looks really do-able in terms of travel knitting.

Yarn Pirate BFL- Fog

3. Jenny Wren Socks from Knitzi in Noro sock color 188. I've been wanting to knit up the Noro for a while now.

Noro Kureyon Sock- 188

Good Luck!

Oh, this is HARD. You've picked such wonderful yarn/pattern combos, I've changed my mind several times already!

Hmmmm...I say...go with the Marigold Socks. The bright yarn will help you stay cheerful while dealing with airport stress!

i'm voting for the Marigold socks too! they're bright and Springy, and your stitches will be easy to see, even in those dingy poorly lit airports. i should know- i spent over 7hrs in them (NOT including actual flight time) yesterday myself!

I'm voting Jenny Wren in Noro, it's a really nice combo.

My vote is also for the Marigold socks. They just look like vacation knitting (sunny and fun). The Tessarae sock looks too conservative for vacation knitting! The Noro sock is pretty, but would be harder to see the stitches. It also looks like it could involve a cable needle...not something you want to have to travel with!

Have fun on vacation!

I mean, obviously I want you to do the Marigolds. :)

But, vanity aside, I found them to be great for travel knitting. The stitch pattern is super easy to memorize, and just exciting enough to keep you interested.

Have a fabulous vacation!

Oh my gosh. I love all of those!!! Love them!!! I don't know how you will choose between them! Hmmm, if it was me, I'd choose the Noro and the Jenny Wren pattern. They were going to be next for me, until I saw the free pattern, Mockery Socks. Now I'm thinking I have to knit those next!

I say #2! I love that yP.

I vote for #1. Which is odd because I'm not normally an orange person.

I'll chip in with a Noro vote!

Happy trails.

Wow, they're all so tempting. I'm going to guess number 2!

I would vote for Tesserae - partly because I just finished one and the pattern is ridiculous easy to memorize. But the Marigolds are also tempting - the yarn choice is freaking (i mean, wicked) perfect! Have a great trip!

I love that orange STR! So bright and spring-like! However, I will vote for the Tesserae Socks. =)

Gosh all of these yarn and patterns are gorgeous! However, if I had to narrow it down I would go gor Tesserae. I'm loving that blue and KnitSpot is Awesome!

This is going to be a most amazing vacay as there is a big--I mean huge reason to celebrate! Have Fun you deserve it!

I'm going to guess the Tesserae socks, but I hope you eventually knit them all - they're great combinations!

They all look great but I would say the Tesserae socks as they look like the sort of knit you can pick up and put down easily for travel.

I say the Jenny Wren socks. Those colors are hard to resist :)

I love the Marigold. That would be what I would have to choose first. That is such a pretty orange. Have a safe trip! And congratulations on your accomplishments.

Ok I will jump on the bandwagon and say marigold. It just cries out spring and sun and flowers and all nice things!

Tough call. You know I'm a STR fanatic so Marigold would seem an easy vote, especially since I've loved that pattern/color combo since I first saw it too.

But oh that Noro is so tempting!

Still, I'll do the obvious and vote for Marigold.

Though if you do end up knitting YP's BFL, I hope it'll be a more pleasureable experience than the BFL yarn I just knit with (non-YP).

"Tessera" is the number "4" in Greek. Three choices, I choose the one that means fours.
Tesserae are the individual tiles in a mosaic. The socks will be the tiles that recall the mosaic of memories from this trip.
Tesserae is the term for dice used in ancient Rome. This contest is like a roll of the dice, which number will come up?
Tessera is a frazione of the comune of Venice nearest to Mestre. Venice sounds like Penzance, and the Gilbert and Sullivan Yarn Pirates thereof.

Boston, Back Bay, Baked Beans, Blue BFL yarn, Boston Bea Barty(?) OK, that's enough.

My guess is #1: the Marigold Socks with STR in the Sunstone colorway. Because that color is so cheery and perfect for the season. :)

Hi, there. I came here via WiKnit. All those yarns and patterns are ridiculously tempting, but I'm going to have to go with the Marigold socks. How can you resist that yarn?

5:01 PM

Well - the most summary ones are the marigold socks so that's what I'll guess. Hard choice though since all are so nice.

I'm going to go with the Jenny Wren socks in the Noro. This is really hard. Hope your trip is great.

I vote for the Tessarae socks :)

Oh, I love all the yarn, and of course I'm late to the party, but I'd vote for the marigold socks - that color is smashing.
So is the YP and the Noro!

3:20 AM
Blogger Turtle said...

Hmmm, i was torn between the noro and the marigold. The noro requires a cable needle though (at least i am guessing) which is an extra something you'd need to take on travel so I am guessing the Marigold! Have fun in Peatown...hubby still harasses me for my east coast slang!

I am going with the Tessarae sock. I like it!

11:56 AM
Blogger danielle said...

I would pick #2 because the comment that it would be an easy one to do for traveling....but my heart goes to the Marigold socks only becuase the yarn is so luscious and becuase I have that pattern sitting right next to me right now! They definitely look like a summer time project!

12:26 PM
Blogger Lisa Boyer said...

I vote for the easy travel pattern--the Tesseraes. I think the color will weather the travel better a little, too, in case of accidental sock droppage/suitcase spillage. Have fun!!
